Fairy Door

A lovely friend recently did me a good turn.
Well, one good turn deserves another and as she has a young daughter I decided to paint one of these delightful Fairy doors for her.

I started by asking if this little girl liked pink – on finding that she did, I mixed some up (mostly white with a little red mixed in – make sure you do enough for the whole project if you mix your own colour – it’s nigh on impossible to replicate a colour again!)
and then I started to cover the whole thing in the pink paint.

I did some simple flowers around the door – using Sharpie pens (just the ordinary pens – I’ve yet to buy any oil-based ones)

Next I drew a little fairy above the door

Then went a little crazy with fairy dust (glitter and stick on gems)

Then I turned my attention to inside.

I just drew with a grey Sharpie and coloured in with Sharpies too.
Once done, I took into the garden to see how it would look…

If you’d like me to paint you a door – let me know.
Or you could try here
or Hobbycraft have this one

Why do we have Fairy Doors?
The legend goes that fairy doors are gateways to the world of fairies.
They’re magical portals that can appear and disappear at random.
Only those who believe will be able to find them.
